The Birth of Beer / March
280 days of the beer journey. Month by month.
Field. Brewery. Pub. Barley and hops are grown in the fields -this is where the flavour of the beer begins. In the malting houses, barley is transformed into malt, and in the brewery, the beer goes through brewing, fermentation, and maturation. Finally, it is packaged into barrels, bottles, or tanks and delivered to pubs and restaurants.
March: Barley is sown
In spring, farmers begin sowing barley - the essential raw material for malt. The fields are prepared: the soil is aerated, levelled, and its moisture checked after winter.
Next comes mechanical soil processing, followed by the sowing of malting barley. This marks the first step in the beer’s 280-day journey - from barley in the field to beer in your glass.
For barley
For barley. For the soil. For the future of beer.
This project is based on the principles of regenerative agriculture: minimizing soil disturbance, supporting biodiversity, and keeping the soil healthy for generations to come.
fun fact of the month
Did you know that...
…approximately 4 million viable barley seeds are sown per hectare of field.
