You can't rush beer

280 days of the beer journey

Beer is our national drink. But it’s more than just a refreshing moment. It’s a journey that lasts 280 days. Follow the path of beer from the barley and hop fields, through the malt house and brewery, all the way to a perfectly poured glass. Every month you can win a case of beer, and at the end of the journey one lucky winner will take home the grand prize of 280 beers.

Day 252 / 280

280 days of beer. Month by month.

The journey of beer begins in the fields of Bohemia and Moravia, where farmers grow barley and hops. In the malt house, barley is transformed into malt, and in the brewery it slowly becomes beer with the help of water, Czech hops, and yeast. Brewers carefully oversee brewing, fermentation, and maturation. Each stage has its own rhythm. Nothing can be rushed. Finally, the beer travels from the bottling plant into kegs, bottles, and tanks - and from there to people in pubs and restaurants.

The journey of beer from grain to glass

Beer doesn't happen overnight. Take a look at the entire process, which takes 280 days.

From the world of beer

People, stories, craftsmanship, and current events - beer is about much more than just the recipe

From the field

Wire training took place at the hop garden

In April, wire training was carried out in the hop gardens — one of the first spring operations of the season. Each hop plant needs two guide wires, which it will climb upward along in the weeks ahead.

From the field

The hop garden has completed hop training

The hops are already heading upward. In recent days, hop training took place in Czech hop gardens — an important task in which the shoots are guided onto the wires so they can grow in the right direction, reaching heights of several metres. This phase is absolutely crucial for the further growth of the hops.

ANKETA

Z POLE

Ječmen zraje a míří do finále!

ANKETA

Co vědí Češi všechno o pivu?

Kolik zrn je v jednom klasu ječmene? A co garantuje označení České pivo? Na to jsme zeptali Čechů v dalším díle ankety.

To prozradí agronom Tomáš Sojka.

Z POLE

Prozradí vám to Jakub Zaoral, manažer udržitelnosti Plzeňského Prazdroje, a také chmelař Aleš Mašanský.

Z POLE

Czech beer

This is Czech barley and hops grown on an area four times the size of Prague. Hundreds of breweries across the Czech Republic craft it, and tens of thousands of places serve it.

It provides jobs for more people than the combined populations of Písek and Tábor, and every year it contributes enough to the state budget to build 6,000 apartments. For centuries, it has also brought people together for shared moments with friends.
